2019 is near, so near I can smell the exciting things to come. And of course, there is nothing more exciting than planning your first trip in the new year! I have finally reached my 30 country before turning 30 goal with two extra years to go, so I need a new goal.

If like me, you are dying to explore this beautiful planet, then I am sure you also find it overwhelming of where to start when everywhere is on your list! Going back to basics sometimes helps, thinking about how you want to travel. Catching a cheap eurostar train or a roadtrip are sometimes forgotten in holiday planning.  In this post  we are going to look at the three basic options of getting around and some facts on them.

Air Travel

We’re talking about traveling so naturally we are going to discuss getting on a plane and flying through the skies. Flights undertaken by the airline industry are predicted to reach 39 million in 2018, and that is a number that has risen from 23.8 million in 2004. So why should you be on one of them?

Well for starters, plane travel is the easiest way to get from country to country and usually the quickest too. That said, it can also be a very useful way of travel across large countries like the USA or Myanmar, in fact taking an internal flight in Myanmar helped us see more of the magnificent country in our short amount of time. Simply put, when it comes to traveling around the world you are going to want to get there quickly and with the least amount of hassle. That doesn’t mean air travel is without its woes, but to get from Europe to China for example, it is a lot easier than swimming.

Train Travel

Different countries have different levels of train travel, but if you are in a region that has perfected the craft then it will be worth your time. There is a reason that there are so many famous train journeys like the Orient Express and the Trans-Siberian Railway.

A huge benefit of train travel is what you get to see on your journey. A train through Europe will help you to the sights and sounds of the different countries and cultures, or a train in the Rockies means endless beautiful landscapes of mountain ranges and nature.

Some would suggest that train travel is the most beautiful way to get around, and they might not be wrong, but it is also practical as well. Train stations are often in the center of cities so you will arrive at your destination in the hub of the action.

Car Travel

Finally, the trusty car. The positive here is fairly easy for all to see, you are in control. The two forms of transport discussed above are both reliant on other people from operating companies to fellow passengers. But in the car it is just you, your traveling party, and the open road. Sure there might be traffic, but you’re the one in charge of the vehicle whether hired from the likes of Bayswater Car Rentals, bought or already owned.

You can’t underestimate the power of being the one who decides when to stop and what route to take. It means that you can see as much or as little of your journey as you wish, making it similar to a train journey for scenic beauty but with the added benefit of stopping to take it in.

So when is your next drive, flight ?
